Betty Ann Tribble Waller, aged 93, of Nathalie, VA, entered into her eternal home on August 2, 2024 with her daughters by her side. She was born June 12, 1931 in Halifax County, VA to the late Jessie and Lina Tribble. Betty Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Julian E Waller Sr. and their only son, Julian E Waller, Jr (Buddy). She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Waller English (Tommy) of Nathalie, VA and Charlotte Waller (David Pence) of Fort Defiance Va. She is also the grandmother to Tom English of Nathalie VA and Leigh Ann Geppert of Gladys Va. She also has three great- grandchildren; Teagan, Adleigh and Bryleigh Geppert. She also leaves behind a good neighbor and friend who adored her as his mother, Stanley Morton and her beloved four legged friend, Roo who protected her to the very end never leaving her side. Her only surviving sibling is Jean Tribble Compton (Ray) of Chesapeake, VA. Preceding her in death were her brothers, Jim, EW, and George Tribble and sisters, Colleen Marstin, Louise Moon, Mildred Moon and Doris Wade. Mama was a fierce defender and supporter of her children and family. She taught us first and most importantly, to always put God first. No matter the circumstances, she would mandate that as long as we were in their house, we would attend church. She served in many roles in her church – Sunday School teacher, choir director, Vacation Bible School teacher, just to name a few. Betty Ann was a true servant to her community. She would always prepare meals for those in the community that were ill and had lost loved ones. She had a love for entertaining and cooking for her family and friends, hosting many events at her home, especially at Christmas. She would entertain as many as fifty guests and she provided the meal for all, having a country ham and turkey was always the tradition. And then we would dance to “Christmas Times A-Coming” by Bill Monroe as she had a love for bluegrass music. You would always leave her home filled with joy and laughter. Mama was a selfless caregiver; always times putting others first. She cared for many in the community that were literally homeless. She and Daddy were able to help the needy and provide food, housing, and adequate resources and never shameful of being their godparents. Her love for the land was exemplified by the hands that she bore. She was referred to by many “as the hardest working woman they knew”. Her day to day life involved around gardening, mending fences, preparing three meals a day, sewing, raising tobacco, keeping barns neat and tidy and most of all, caring for her family. Mama, we could only hope and pray that we can be the person that you taught us to be; forever giving and putting others before self. You longed for the day when you would see Buddy again and we know you are rejoicing with him in glory and walking the streets of gold! Special thanks to her caregivers Phyllis Juettner and Annetta Thomas whom she loved dearly. A funeral service will be conducted at Clover Bottom Baptist Church, Sunday, August 4, 2024 at 4PM; burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service. Henderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Brookneal will be assisting the family.
