Catherine Pierce Singleton Hailey, 87, of Midlothian peacefully passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at home. She was the wife first of the late Robert Samuel Singleton, and second of the late Richard Stanley Hailey.
Catherine was born in Halifax County, February 24, 1937, daughter of the late William I. Pierce and the late Lillie Brooks Pierce. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where she served for 35 years. She worked with Vacation Bible School, was secretary and treasurer, a Sunday School Teacher, sang in the choir and participated in the handbell choir for many years. Catherine also sold tickets at the William Campbell High School football games for 29 years. She was a former employee of General Electric.
She is survived by one son, Robert Edward Singleton (Jamie); and one daughter, Rhonda S. Oberle (Jeff) all of Midlothian; grandchildren, Kayla Waring (Karrh), Aidan Oberle, Christian, Benjamin, James, Joshua and Lily Jane Singleton; one stepson, Richard S. Hailey (Patty) of Maryland; one sister, Barbara Fears; and a number of special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Virginia Seamster, Mary Rudder, Betty Rudder, and Dorothy Martin; one brother, Clyde W. Pierce; one stepdaughter Janet H. Green.
A funeral service will be conducted a 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2024 at Ebenezer Baptist Church by the Rev. Jamie Adams and the Rev. Johnny Roberts. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
