Donna Sue Puckette Davis, 75, of Gladys passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her husband and her two daughters, on Tuesday, August 1, 2023. She was the wife of Henry Ernie Davis for 54 wonderful years.
Donna was born in Campbell County on August 19, 1947, the daughter of the late Walter William Puckette and the late Marion Grey Layne Puckette. She was a lifelong member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and was a retired schoolteacher with Campbell County School System, where she taught for 32 years at Gladys Primary/Elementary School. After retirement, wonderful memories were made as she traveled to many beautiful places with her husband and her dear friends. A favorite pastime was watching her hummingbirds return each year and shopping with her girls. Always with a song on her lips and a love of roses and pansies, “forever and a day” she will always be our rock and our sweetheart.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Dana Davis Koenig (Karl) of Forest and Leah Davis Talbert (Rob) of Charlottesville; grandchildren, Gretchen Koenig, Eric Koenig (Anne), Brynn Simons (Adam), Lauren Lesniak (John), Bryson Talbert and Madeline Talbert; great-grandchildren, Haydyn, Camdyn, and Londyn Lesniak, Asa and Gus Koenig, and Peyton, Sarah and Max Simons; sisters, Joan Puckette Cox of Advance, N.C., Nan Puckette Wallace of Gladys and Merle Puckette Herndon (Billy) of Brookneal; and sister-in-law, Beverly Williams Puckette of Gladys.
Donna was preceded in death by a brother, Walter William “Bill” Puckette II and brothers-in-law, David Norman Cox and Vernon Bruce Wallace, Sr.
A funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Johnny Roberts and Pastor Jamie Adams on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church with interment in the Cemetery following the service.
The family will receive friends in the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ebenezer Baptist Church, 267 Ebenezer Rd., Gladys, VA 24554 or the charity of your choice.
