Gene Ward, 70, of Brookneal passed away Friday, May 5, 2017 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Judy Neighbors Ward. Gene was born in Campbell County, September 21, 1946 a son of the late Thomas Clinton Ward and Lillie Smith Ward. He was a retired truck driver for Swing Transport. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, E. Ronald Ward (Laverne) of Lynchburg; a daughter, Rhonda Ward Colinger (Mark) of Gladys; four grandchildren, Cody and Summer Harvey, Reshawn and Amber Dunkley; three great-grandchildren, Ava Stern, Chad and Maleigh Dunkley; a brother, Wayne Ward (Sandi); a sister, Nancy Stevens all of Halifax; and a number of nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, May 8, 2017 at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery by the Rev. T. Wayne Daniel. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Henderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Brookneal and at the residence other times.
