Geneva Ashby Crews, 91, of Nathalie passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at home. She was the wife of the late Johnnie Alison Crews. Mrs. Crews was born in Halifax County, August 6, 1930, daughter of the late Johnnie L. Ashby and Maggie Mason Ashby. She was a member of Childrey Baptist Church and was retired from Basset Walker in Brookneal. She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl C. Newbill (Page) of Nathalie; a grandson, Scott A. Newbill (Rhae) of Rustburg; a granddaughter, Allison N. Pope (Cameron) of Nathalie; three great-grandchildren, Lainey and Ridge Newbill, Gavin Pope; a sister, Lucille A. Woosley of Nathalie; a special nephew, Richard Woosley. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ethel Woosley; and a brother, Louis Ashby. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Childrey Baptist Church by the Rev. Jerry Stanfield with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Henderson Funeral Home and at the home of her daughter other times.
