George William Vassar, 95, of Concord passed away peacefully at home Saturday, September 26, 2026. He was the husband of the late Betty Lou Tweedy Vassar and later married to Margaret Singleton Williams Vassar. George was born in Campbell County, August 19, 1931, son of the late Fred Starkey Vassar and the late Kathleen Oakes Vassar. He was a retired tractor-trailer operator and was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. He is survived by one son, Ronnie William Vassar (Debbie) of Concord; two daughters, Georgia Vassar Shull (Scott) of Concord and Scarlet “Scotti” Vassar Clements of Rustburg; nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren along with a number of nieces and nephews. George is preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Vassar Elliott Lane; a son-in-law, Bruce Clements, and a grandson, Adam Clements. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday October 1, 2026, at Kedron Baptist Church by Rev. Jacob Warren and Rev. Gary Vassar.
