Obituaries

Helen Reynolds Riddlebarger, 94, of Brookneal passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the Carrington in Lynchburg. She was the wife first to the late Preston W. Miller and second to the late Homer Nelson Riddlebarger. Mrs. Riddlebarger was born in Covington, June 11, 1922, daughter of the late William McKinley Reynolds and Vida Arrington Reynolds. She was a member of Brookneal Presbyterian Church, where she served as an Elder, Secretary of Brookneal Elementary School for 26 years and was a member of the Brookneal Woman’s Club. Her interests included scrapbooking, creating family photo albums, knitting, crocheting and genealogy. She is survived by one daughter, Janet L. Riddlebarger of Christiansburg; two sons, Stephen N. Riddlebarger (Linda) of Harrisonburg, and Barry C. Riddlebarger of Lynchburg; eight grandchildren, Christy Wiley (David), Richard Miller (Lisa), Becky Yopp (Gary), Rob Riddlebarger (Kim), Lisa Riddlebarger, Nicholas Riddlebarger (Sharlene), Teresa Comer (Michael), Stephanie Burgess (Don); 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis W. Miller. The family would like to thank our Caregiver Team for giving her the opportunity to live in her home for the last four years. Your kindness, genuine love and care will never be forgotten. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Roberta Kidd with interment to follow in Wickliffe Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Henderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Brookneal.
