Irene Frances Anderson DeJarnette of 2125 Perth Road, Nathalie went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, February 2, 2014. She was born in Halifax County on July 20, 1916 and was the daughter of the late Ora Leigh Williams Anderson and James Henry Anderson.
She was the widow of the late Louis C. DeJarnette Sr. to whom she was married for 49 years and is survived by two children; Her son and family: Louis C. DeJarnette Jr. and wife Pat of Gladys; Grandson: Lou DeJarnette III, wife Cheryl and children, Kaitlyn, Coleman and Ashlyn of Rustburg; Grandson: Derek DeJarnette Sr., wife Krystal and children, Derek Thomas Jr. and Maeghan of Brookneal; Grandson: Dustin DeJarnette and wife Lindsey of Appomattox.
She is also survived by her daughter and family: Virginia DeJarnette Jennings and husband Jeff of Nathalie; Grandson: Robert D. Irby of Gladys; Granddaughter: Christina Irby Tilley, husband Josh and son Justice of Lynchburg; step-grandchildren: Leigh Ann Self, husband Billy and daughter Chloe of Lynchburg; and Blaire Jennings Grady and husband Shawn of Houston, TX.
She was preceded in death by four siblings: Claudie Wilson Anderson, James Edward Anderson, Mary Ethel Anderson and Carye Anderson Dye.
She was a life-long member of Childrey Baptist Church where she loved each and every member. The family wishes to thank everyone for the many acts of kindness shown to her and the family. They want to especially thank Pastor Jerry Stanfield and the Homebound Ministry of Childrey Baptist Church for their visits and thoughtfulness during her years of declining health. Also a special thanks to Sandra Miller and Pam Martin for being such loving care givers and Charlotte Jordan for being her regular Sunday afternoon companion. Mom loved everyone she met and was truly one of God’s angels here on earth.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Childrey Baptist Church by the Rev. Jerry Stanfield and the Rev. Johnny Roberts with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Henderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Brookneal, immediately following the service in Childrey Baptist Church Fellowship Building and other times at the residence of her children.
