Irene Montgomery, 93, of Brookneal passed away February 1, 2022 at her home. She was the wife of the late William Owen Montgomery. Mrs. Montgomery was born in Halifax County January 19,1929, daughter of the late Richard Pressley Hancock and the late Mattie Clay Hancock. Mrs. Montgomery was a retired seamstress of Aileens and a member of Light House Community Church. She is survived by two granddaughters, Jennifer Montgomery Autry (Marty) of Monroe N.C.; Johanna Montgomery Langston (Kevin) of Wendell N.C.; three great grandchildren, Khloe Anna Langston, Emma Gayle Autry, Kayleigh Paige Langston; Daughter in law Linda Gayle Montgomery of Monroe N.C.; Two sisters, Barbara Ivey (Don) of Gladys; Linda Elmo of Nathalie; a brother Marshall Hancock (Mary) of Nathalie. She is proceeded in death by a son Owen Wayne Montgomery; five sisters, Alease Poindexter, Betty Jane Hancock, Mary Lee Hancock, Mattie Caroline Ashby, Willie Mae Hancock; Three brothers, R.P. Hancock Jr., Johnny Hancock, Mitchel Hancock. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday February 6, 2022, at the Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Wickliffe cemetery, The family will receive friends at the home other times.
