Rev. James (Jim) Allen Keys, 81, of Gladys, passed away peacefully at Liberty Ridge Health & Rehabilitation Center on Friday, November 8, 2024. He was the husband of Iris Almond Keys. Jim was born in Johnson City, TN on September 23, 1943, a son of the late Thomas L. Keys. Sr. and the late Faye Bailey Keys. He was the minister at Faith Baptist Church for over 40 years and was a member of Childrey Baptist Church. He was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam era. In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by a son, Thomas C. Keys of Gladys, a daughter, Melinda Keys McGhee (Charles) of Vernon Hill; grandchildren, Hampton White and Katherine White; a brother, Robert Keys (Alice) of Concord; a sister-in-law Peggy K. Ledbetter (Marvin) of Concord; and a number of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a brother, Thomas L. Keys, Jr. A funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Jerry Stanfield on Monday, November 11, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Childrey Baptist Church with interment to follow in the Kedron Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors at graveside. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Childrey and other times at the home. Memorial contributions may be made to Childrey Baptist Church and Faith Christian Academy at 361 Main St., Hurt, VA 24563.
