Obituaries

Jennie Cathern Jackson Waller, 89, of Goode, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026. Born in Gladys, VA on February 16, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Ray Jackson and the late Thelsie Rice Jackson. She previously worked at G.E., as well as at the law firm of William Rosenberger. Jennie was a longtime member of Edge Baptist Church, where she played the piano in her younger years. She always spoke of playing softball, being the “leftie pitcher” on the GE team. In later years, she enjoyed helping her daughter, Kristi, with childcare. She was a wonderful cook, but most of all, a beloved mother and grandmother, who treasured her family. She is survived by her son, Barry Waller; her devoted daughter Kristi Godsey (Larry), her daughter Kecia Waller; her grandchildren, Cami Smith, Adam Waller (Donielle), Jordan Godsey (Hannah), Marc Godsey (Jessica), Tyler Godsey (Kirstin), Kathern “Katie” Jamerson (Carter); twelve great grandchildren; also her loving sister, Sterling F. Jackson, brother Charlie R. Jackson (Georgia) and sister Laura J. Phelps. Jennie was preceded in death by her sister Sandra Jackson Fay. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jill and Olivia with Heartland Hospice for their compassionate care of Jennie.
