John Donald Canada Jr., 93, of Phenix passed away peacefully at home Friday, October 2, 2026. He was the husband of Ann Elder Canada. John was born in Charlotte County, February 16, 1933, son of the late John Donald Canada Sr. and the late Mamie Elliott Canada. He was a lifetime member of Midway Baptist Church and was a U.S Army Veteran who served in Korea. He was also a lifetime Dairy Farmer. He is survived by two sons, John Donald Canada III of Brookneal, Albert Elder Canada of Phenix; a daughter Jeanne Canada Jack of Phenix; two grandsons, Justin Jack (Amber) and Ryan Jack (Alexandra); two great granddaughters, Dawsyn and Charlotte Jack. He is preceded in death by siblings, Myrtle Ellington and Robert “Bobby” Canada. The family would like to thank the following caregivers, Anne Marie Newcomb, Lisa Thompson, and Barbara Martin for their kindness, compassion and unwavering support in caring for John. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday October 5, 2026, at Midway Baptist Church by Rev. Chris Kesler with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall and at the home other times. Memorial contributions may be made to Midway Baptist Church Cemetery Fund at 2595 Midway Rd.
