Obituaries

Kathryn Lyle Torrence, 84, of Rustburg, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 15, 2025. Kathryn was born in Lynchburg on September 16, 1940, a daughter of the late George Lyle Torrence and the late Edna Mae Davidson Torrence. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. Kathryn is survived by her friend, Bob Hatcher of Evington, whom she called “Pops”; Bob’s children, Eric Hatcher, Darin Hatcher, Vonda Parks, and Tonya Abdoo; and lifelong friend, Connie Nichols. Kathryn loved her dog, and favorite companion, Spot. She was preceded in death by her brother, Percy Woody Torrence, and special friend, Mrs. Margie Hatcher. A funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Jennifer Vestal Moore on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Bethany United Methodist Church with interment to follow at the Torrence family cemetery. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany UMC, 2772 Bethany Rd., P.O. Box 327, Rustburg, VA 24588, in memory of Kathryn.
