Linda Burton Saunders, 80, of Gladys, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, November 8, 2024. She was the wife of Louis William Saunders.
Linda was born in Halifax County on March 21, 1944, a daughter of the late William Wesley Burton and the late Hessie Crews Burton. She was an employee of Black Forest Clock Co. and was a teacher’s aide at Yellow Branch School in Campbell Co. Linda attended First Baptist Church of Republican Grove.
Linda was a very caring and lovable wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was loved by many. She made everyone feel like they belonged, sharing her heart and home without hesitation. She loved baking, cooking and sewing. She especially loved spending time with her granddaughter and great granddaughter. She loved all of her family very much and they loved her. She will be very missed.
In addition to her husband, Linda is survived by a daughter, Teresa C. Hutcherson and Scott of Gretna; a granddaughter, Brandy N. Moon and Jeremiah of Gladys; a great granddaughter, Allison Jane “AJ” Moon of Gladys; a brother John Burton and Becky of Nathalie; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.
Linda is preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara Jean and John Jefferson; a special aunt, Catherine Robey; and a special uncle, Richard Crews.
A graveside service will be conducted by Rev. Shelton Miles on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Republican Grove. Visitations will be held after the service on Thursday, as well as on Wednesday night from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the Henderson Funeral Home Chapel, in Brookneal.
