Lurlee Ann Jordan Slate, 87, of Naruna passed away Monday, June 27, 2022 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of William Henry “Billy” Slate. Lurlee was born in Lynchburg, February 27, 1935 a daughter of the late James Radford Jordan and the late Callie Beatrice Yeatts Jordan. She was a member of Brookneal Baptist Church and a homemaker. She is survived by two sons, James William “Jay” Slate (Amy) of Naruna, Ted Jordan (Michelle) of Forest; a daughter, Janet S. Hamlett (Eddie) of Lynchburg; her 7 grandchildren who all called her “Meme”; ten great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Pendry of Raleigh, N.C. and a daughter-in-law, Judy Jordan of Forest. She was preceded in death by a son, James Walker “Jimmy” Jordan, three brothers and three sisters. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Brookneal Baptist Church by the Rev. Cliff Jordan and the Rev. Andrew Reisburg with interment to follow in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and at the home other times.
