Margaret Walthall Carwile, 97, of Gladys passed away Friday, January 13, 2023 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Herbert Melvin Carwile. Mrs. Carwile was born in Beckley, West Virginia on July 3, 1925 the daughter of the late Willie Newton Walthall and the late Annie Woodall Walthall. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and retired from General Electric. She is survived by son H. Dale Carwile (Reecia) of Gladys, daughter Brenda G. Carwile (Duane Powers) of Union Hall; grandchildren Holly Bell (John) of Gladys, Dewey Carwile (Stacey) of Brookneal and Jennifer Carwile of Nathalie; five great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a sister Mary Smith of Lynchburg and close friend Sylvia McDowell of Monroe. She was preceded in death by son Danny M. Carwile. A Graveside Service will be conducted by Pastor Mike Dodson at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at the Carwile Family Cemetery in Gladys.
