Norma Jean Moon, 86, of Morris Church Rd., Brookneal, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on April 17, 2026. Norma was born in Walhalla, South Carolina on February 20, 1940, the daughter of the late Hoy Nelson Buckner and Geneva McIntosh Buckner.
She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, where she served as Chairman of the Kitchen Committee for many years. She was always available to help where needed.
A devoted mother and beloved nanny, Norma dedicated her life to her family, instilling values of strength, kindness and love in everyone she met.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Warren Floyd Moon, Jr., two brothers, Dale Buckner and Dennis Buckner; two sisters Zelda Kimm and Ann Garrett; daughter-in- law, Donna Allen; son-in-law, Steve Mason; one granddaughter, Christie Ann and one great granddaughter, Kesslee.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her children, Dennis Martin (Angel), David Martin (Lisa), Susan Davis (Cotton) and Greg Martin (Dana); her adored grandchildren, April Sue, Candi Allen, Robbie Childress (Jay), Tiffany Vaughan (Tim), Chris Rowe, Tabitha Lynn, Ashley (TJ), Jessica Page (Jake) and Linsay; 19 great grandchildren; brothers, Jerry Buckner (Betsy), and Michael Buckner. And, as well, a wide circle of friends, including special friends, Lynn Trent and Rhonda and her beloved cat, Tabby.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at Ebenezer Baptist Church by the Rev. Johnny Roberts and the Rev. Jamie Adams. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church and at the residence of David and Lisa Martin at other times.
The family would like to thank Gentle Sheppard Hospice (Maddie, Molly and Cindy) for their exceptional love and care shown to Norma and her family. Memorial contributions may be made to Ebenezer Baptist Church.
