Pattie Guthrie Yates, 96, of Nathalie, passed away at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. She was the wife of the late Carlton Gale Yates. Born in Halifax County on January 25, 1930, Pattie was the daughter of the late Flournoy Caldwell Guthrie and the late Virginia Turner Guthrie. She was a member of Childrey Baptist Church, a farmer and a homemaker. Pattie is survived by three sons, Mark E. Yates (Robin) of Halifax, Steve C. Yates of Cumming, GA, Alan D. Yates of Nathalie; two daughters, Patsy Y. Vaughan (Steve) of Halifax and Dawn Y. Griffin (Larry) of Dallas, GA; six grandchildren, Kathleen Sibley (Stephen), Ryan Yates (Mary), Genavieve Yates, Gabriel Yates, Jessica Vaughan, and Melissa Woods (David); five great grandchildren, Nate Loftis, Abigail and Juliana Woods, James and Julia Sibley; and a brother, Max R. Guthrie. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert A. Guthrie, Charles F. Guthrie, Randolph M. Guthrie and James E. Guthrie; two sisters, Mavin Adams and Ann Jennings. The family would like to thank every caregiver who provided loving and amazing care that allowed Pattie to enjoy the comfort of her own home over the last few years. A funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Jerry Stanfield on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Childrey Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
