Reginald Lester Smith, 73, of Brookneal passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday October 28, 2026. He was the husband of Sheila Massey Smith for 32 years. Reggie was born in Lynchburg VA on September 1, 1953, son of the late Lester Judd Smith and the late Hilda Dodd Smith. He retired from BWXT. Reggie was a farmer at heart, an avid hunter, fisherman and loved to hear his many dogs run. He is survived by two daughters, Kirstin Sterling Smith and Hannah Joy Smith both of Brookneal; sister, Trish Conroy (Paul) of Lynchburg; niece, Whitney Chancellor (Kyle) of Salem, two nephews, Patrick Conroy (Lauren) of Richmond, Brandon Conroy of Starbase TX; two great nephews, Liam and Bennett Chancellor. Reggie is preceded in death by a brother, Jeffrey Hudson Smith. A memorial service will be conducted by Rev. Shelton Miles at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday October 31, 2026, at Union Hill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and at the home at other times.
