First and foremost, my dearest condolences to the Oltz Family. While I was in Lynchburg for college, I had the pleasure of working with Richard at Jersey Mike's as a shift leader and I will say I learn more from Richard than he learn from me. First, Richard taught me a trick on the menu and one of my favorite subs til this day .. #26 no chicken, beef instead. Also, I remember his fascination for cars and how he loved working on them. I got my first vehicle and did not know a thing about things that needed to be replace, but Richard informed me about radiators, anti-coolant and so much more. Richard eventually taught me about insurance and the value of it and the difference between liability and full coverage. Also, the four different parts of home insurance. Finally, I remember his determination when Richard had an arm injury due to working on cars and still coming to work for shifts throughout the week. When the weather was bad, he still came to work. Working with him and even hanging out after shifts outside the back of Jersey Mikes were good times. His humor and energy was unmatched and unique. Richard will be missed. Richard family, I will be praying for you guys. A prayer for you guys to find warmth in this season of your lives, and that his memory lives on.

This really hit me. Richard was one of my closest friends in high-school. He was always a funny and great guy to be around. Really would always lend a hand or ear to friends whenever in need. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends. I'm so sorry for your loss. You all and Richard will be in my prayers.

Faith, Alexis, and all of your family - near and far. I grieve with you over this tragedy. My heart hurts with yours. Although I cannot feel what you are feeling, I have experienced loss that never stops hurting. I remember being told that I would think of them each and every day. It is so true. I wonder if he would have liked this food or this car. I question if he would have been a good father or grandfather. As you go through the stages of remembering and grief, I pray that you will also feel joy in knowing that you had him with you for a time. He blessed your life and you blessed his. Love you my family. G-ma Cindy & Poppy
