Reverend Robert Earl Simmons, 86, of Nathalie passed away December 15, 2021 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Deborah Thomas Simmons. Robert was born in Buckingham County, May 3, 1935, son of the late William B. Simmons Sr. and Elnora Harris Simmons. He was a member of Clover Bottom Baptist Church, a retired minister and butcher. He is survived by Three sons, Robert D. Simmons, William B. Simmons both of Richmond, Christopher D. Simmons (Teri) of Nathalie; four grandsons, Joseph D. Simmons, Robbie S. Simmons, Billy L. Simmons, Andrew M. Simmons (Libby); five granddaughters, Danielle Emory, Valerie Skeen (Roger), Elizabeth S. Seate (Jarred), Amelia F. Simmons, Madelyn G. Simmons; Eight greatgrandchildren; one sister, Elinore S. Balderson of Warsaw. He was preceded in death by one brother William B. Simmons Jr. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Clover Bottom Baptist Church by the Rev. Phillip Wright with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall and at the home other times. Following CDC guidelines please wear mask and practice social distancing.
