Robert Harry Meeks, 87, of Phenix, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. He was the loving husband of Carol Meeks for 67 happy years. Born in Danville, VA in May, 1939, he was the son of the late Harry Wooding Meeks and the late Nona S. Meeks. He was a retired police officer for the city of Virginia Beach and was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by a son, David B. Meeks (Sherri) of Phenix; a daughter, Deborah Anne Malcolm (Brian) of South Mills, N.C.; three grandchildren, Christie Wright (Denney) of Charlotte Courthouse, Michael Malcolm of Leland, N.C. and Sara Shepherd (Jason) of Hertford, N. C.; and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, D. Brian Meeks. A Funeral Service will be conducted by Rev. Chris Kesler at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Midway Baptist Church with interment following in the church cemetery. Military rites will be presented at the grave. Visitation will be held in the church fellowship hall after the graveside service. Memorial contributions may be made to Midway Baptist Church, 2595 Midway Rd., Phenix, VA 23959.
