Ruby Mason Moon, 93, of Phenix, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2024 peacefully at her home. She was the wife of the late Frank O. Moon. Ruby was born in Charlotte County on October 5, 1930, a daughter of the late Lodson Mason and the late Estel Johnson Mason. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church and cared for children in her home in earlier years. She is survived by sons: Frank Owen Moon, Jr. (Christy) and Gary Moon (Michelle), all of Phenix; daughters: Shirley Wade (Randy) of Lynchburg and Frances Smith (Glenn) of Amherst; grandchildren: Daron Moon (Shelby) and Logan Moon (Jessica), Rodney Moon (Tori), Haley Thompson (Derrick) and Maggie Moon (Adam), all of Phenix, Chris Wade (Stephanie) of Lynchburg, Beth Milligan (Chris) of Jacksonville, N.C., Tracey Crouse (Bradley) of Greeneville, TN, Lisa Moore (Todd) of Rustburg, Libby Unruh (Matthew) of Fredericksburg, Shelby Johnston (Aaron) of New York, N.Y., Matthew Smith (Kirsten) of Amherst; great-grandchildren: Harrison, Emmett, Austin, Axel and Cohen Moon, Deacon and Layton Moon, Knox and Josie Thompson, Gabe and Josh Rice, Morgan Woodall (Peyton), Kayla Moore, Paige Davis (Brant), Davin and Alicia Milligan, Rachel and Jonah Unruh, Dylan and Hunter Johnston, Enoch and Boaz Smith; great-great grandchild: Laken Woodall. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Edward “Pete” Mason and John Mason. A funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Chris Kesler at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2024 at Midway Baptist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service. Henderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Brookneal is assisting the family.
