Samuel Carol Elder, 83, residing at Liberty Ridge Health & Rehab in Lynchburg, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2026, at UVA Hospital. Samuel was born in Newport News, VA, the son of the late Ural Sam Elder and the late Maggie Tibbs Elder. He was a farmer and was a member of Providence Baptist Church. He is survived by a sister, Linda Elder Witt (Gary) of Evington; nephews, Christopher Witt (Susan), Gregory Witt (Kim); great nieces, Alyssa Moon (Michael), Kara Witt, Kylie Witt and Avery Witt; great-great nephews, Jackson and Joseph Moon He was preceded in death by a brother Robert “Bobby” Elder. A graveside service will be conducted by Gary Witt at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 21, 2026, at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. Condolences may be sent by visiting www.hendersonfuneral.net. Henderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Brookneal is assisting the family.
