William Alexander “Bill” Brown, 72, of Phenix passed away Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Centra Gretna Medical Center. He was the husband of Gretchen Dawson Brown. Bill was born in Charlotte County, July 13, 1948, son of the late William Francis Brown and Mary Harris Brown Dunnaway. He was a member of Staunton River Baptist Church and a retired employee of BWXT. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, William Alexander Brown, Jr. (Alexis) of Charlotte Court House, Justin Thomas Brown (Lauren) of Concord; six grandchildren, Mattie, Will, Audrey, Nate, Harper, and Graham Brown; three sisters, Barbara Ann Pillow, Linda Hamlett (Elton), Shirley Dudley (C.W.); a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Hugh David Pillow. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, July 9, 2021 at Staunton River Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Rick Delinger. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Staunton River Baptist Church.
