Jessie DeJarnette Wade 107 of Brookneal, passed away Saturday May 11, 2024, at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Bernard E. Wade. Jessie was born in Halifax County on March 11, 1917. She was a daughter of the late Dock H. DeJarnette and the late Willie Guthrie DeJarnette. She was a member of Brookneal Baptist Church and a retired employee of Burlington Industries. Jessie was a second mother to Sara Shorter and grandmother to Rhonda Temple of Dallas, TX, Jennifer Schrock (Mark) of Gladys, Leah Stevens (Joel Epperson) of Gladys and Stuart Doss of Bedford (Angela’s husband); special niece, Brenda Clements (Carlyle and their son Page); nephews, George Michael Hubbard, and David Hubbard (Linda); great grandchildren, Loni-DeAnna Temple, Hannah Claire Schrock, Ethan Marcus Schrock and Joshua Len Schrock. She was preceded in death by sisters, Estelle Talbott, Doris West and Marie Hubbard; niece, Carol Bond; granddaughter, Angela Doss; and great grandson Zachary Amos Schrock. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday May 17, 2024, at Childrey Baptist Church Cemetery by the Reverend Shelton Miles. A visitation will be held Thursday, May 16th from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at Jessie’s home at other times.
