Obituaries

Robert Darwin Mason, 84, of Brookneal passed away Sunday, September 25, 2022 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Dorothy Harris Mason. Darwin was born in Charlotte County, May 28, 1938 a son of the late Merle Mason and the late Lula Earl Harris Mason. He was a lifelong member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. He was a lifetime farmer. In addition to his wife, he is survived by: a daughter, Mitzi Lee (Thomas Wakefield) of Beaverdam; a son, Monte Mason (Rhonda) of Brookneal; four grandchildren, Katherine Jackson (Blake), Sydney Mason, Sarah Mason, Garrett Mason; two great-grandchildren, Harvey Darwin Jackson, Luc Harris Jackson; a brother, Randy Mason and a sister, Libby Allen. He is preceded in death by a son, Marcus Darwin Mason and a brother, Thomas Merle Mason. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Mt. Carmel UMC by Pastor Mike Teixeira with interment to follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 1:00 p.m at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Carmel UMC. Henderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Brookneal is assisting the family.
